Instagram Auto Reply for Small Business: Prices and Menus
Set up an Instagram auto reply for your small business: send prices, menus and booking links to everyone who comments a keyword on your reel.

Every small business on Instagram knows the comment "price?" under a reel. Answering it a hundred times by hand is slow, and a late answer is a lost customer. An Instagram auto reply for a small business fixes this: people comment one keyword, and the price, menu or booking link lands in their DMs within moments.
Short answer: Tell viewers to comment a word such as PRICE or MENU. An automation spots that word, sends a private DM with your prices, menu or booking link as a button, and can add a short public reply. You need a professional Instagram account. DmReel does this free during early access, with no card.
Why do small businesses get the same question again and again?
Because the reel shows the product but never the details. Nobody wants to pause a video to read a long caption. They type "price", "how much" or "where are you" and wait.
You are busy serving customers, so the answer comes hours later. By then the viewer has scrolled on. The question is not the problem. The delay is.
A comment keyword turns a vague question into a clear request. When the last second of your reel says "comment PRICE for the full list", the viewer knows exactly what to type and what they will get back.
What can a shop, salon or restaurant send by auto reply?
Anything a customer asks for in the first minute of interest. The DM can carry up to two link buttons, so one message can hold both the thing and the next step.
- A shop sends the price list. A candle maker shows a new scent in a reel and asks for the word PRICE. The DM opens the product page and the shipping info.
- A restaurant sends the menu. A cafe films its new breakfast plate. Comment MENU, and the DM carries the menu and a button to the ordering page.
- A salon sends a booking link. A hair studio posts a before-and-after reel. Comment BOOK, and the DM has the calendar link and opening hours.
- A fitness coach sends a trial offer. A coach shows a ten minute workout. Comment TRIAL, and the DM links to a free first session.
Each of these is one reel, one keyword and one message. You can build the same pattern for a different reel next week. If you want ideas for the message text, our Instagram DM templates give copy-ready wording for prices, bookings and discounts.
How do you set up an Instagram auto reply step by step?
The setup takes a few minutes. Your account must be a professional account (Business or Creator), because that is what Instagram requires for automated messaging.
- Connect your account. Sign up to DmReel with Google, email or Instagram, then connect your professional account through Instagram's official login.
- Pick the reel. Choose it from your real reels, shown as thumbnails, so there is no pasting of links. You can also prepare an automation for your next reel before you post it.
- Choose trigger words. Use one or two words that match your reel, such as PRICE and MENU. Matching works on whole words and ignores capital letters.
- Write the DM. Greet the person, say what you are sending, and add up to two link buttons. A button is easier to tap than a long pasted link.
- Add a public reply if you like. A short line under the comment, such as "Check your DMs", shows other viewers that you answer. You can write several variations so it does not look copy-pasted.
- Set it live. Switch the automation on. You can pause or edit it at any time.

What should the keyword and the message look like?
Keep the keyword short, easy to type on a phone and tied to the offer. PRICE, MENU, BOOK and SIZE all work. Avoid words people might write in everyday comments, like "love" or "wow", because the automation will answer those too.
Matching is whole word, so a comment of "price please" triggers PRICE, while a word that merely contains it does not. Capital letters do not matter. If your audience writes in Arabic too, add the Arabic word to the same automation, for example السعر next to PRICE.
For the message itself, use this order: say hello, name what you are sending, give the button, then ask one easy question. A bakery might write: "Hi! Here is our full cake menu with prices. Tap the button to see it. Tell me the date and I will check if we are free."
That last question matters. A reply opens a normal conversation, and then you can answer personally. The automation does the repetitive part and you keep the human part.
What mistakes make a small business auto reply fail?
- Promising something the DM does not deliver. If the reel says "comment PRICE", the DM must contain the price, or at least a link that shows it at once.
- Using a keyword that is too common. Choose a word that only people who want the offer will type.
- Writing a wall of text. People read DMs on a phone while doing something else. Three or four short lines are enough.
- Forgetting the reel changes. When the offer ends, pause the automation or edit the message so nobody gets an old price.
- Never reading the replies. Some people will answer your DM with a question. Check your inbox so the conversation does not die.
Another worry is repeat comments. DmReel sends only one DM per person for each automation, even if they comment five times, so no customer gets the same message again and again.
What does Instagram allow, and what does it cost?
Instagram's rules matter here. A private reply to a comment can be sent once per comment and only within 7 days of it. Messaging is allowed in reply to people who contacted you or commented on your content, and the account must be a professional account. Cold messages to strangers are not allowed, and you should not try them.
On cost, many paid chatbot builders charge by the number of contacts, so the bill grows when your reel does well. DmReel is free during early access and needs no card. See the pricing page for the current status, and the comparison page if you are weighing different tools.
DmReel focuses on comment-to-DM. It does not do story replies, broadcasts or AI-written answers, and it does not work on Facebook or TikTok. If you need those, you will need something else alongside it.
Does a busy week break the auto reply?
A busy reel is the best case, and it should not lose anyone. When Instagram slows down how quickly messages can be sent, DmReel queues the DMs and retries them, so people who commented during the rush still receive theirs. They may wait a little, but they are not skipped.
You can also see how many DMs were sent and how many buttons were tapped. If few people tap, rewrite the message or move the button to the first line.
FAQ
Do I need a Business account, or is Creator enough? Either works. Instagram requires a professional account for automated messaging, and both Business and Creator count. A personal account cannot be connected.
Can I send my menu as a PDF? Put the menu online as a page or a file link and send it as a button. A button is tidier than a pasted link and easier to tap, and you can add a second button for ordering.
What if a customer comments the keyword twice? They get one DM per automation. That keeps your chat clean and stops it feeling like spam, even when someone comments again out of impatience.
Will people know the reply is automatic? They will see a normal message from your account. Write it warmly, mention what they asked for, and invite a reply so a real person can take over.
Start with one reel and one keyword. Once you see the first customers arrive with the price already in hand, you can repeat the same pattern on every reel.
